Description: 200 seeds of Swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) collected in the fall of 2021. Also called Marsh or Rose milkweed, this species is native to wetlands over a large range in North America, such as swamps, marshes, wet meadows and prairies, floodplains, etc. It adapts well to the garden setting, grows in full sun to mostly shade, and requires a medium-moist soil. It is a fast-growing, clumping milkweed that will bloom in the 1st or 2nd year from seed. The flowers range from light to deep pink and they are very attractive to bees and butterflies. Asclepias incarnata is an important host plants for the Monarch butterfly. The adult female lays eggs on it and the caterpillars eat the leaves, stems, and flowers. Even a few plants can help support the Monarch breeding cycle.
