Description: MASTER'S OF ACHIEVEMENTThe World's Greatest Leaders in Literature, Art, Religion, Philosophy, Science, Politics And Industry in one extraordinary color engraving. "Die Intimen Bei Beethoven"(c.1876) By Artist Albert Anton Graefle (German, 1807-1889) Published In 1892 By Franz Hanfstaengl. ABOUT THIS SCENEDaniel Steibelt, a Viennese piano virtuoso, was known as a very self confident and arrogant man. When Beethoven became famous, Steibelt decided to challenge him. Beethoven agreed. Steibelt played first and then it was Beethoven’s turn. Beethoven was very bored at this point and he put Steibelt’s score on the stand upside down. When he realized his mistake, He started improvising in such an inspiring way that Steibelt got pale and he left the building not even waiting till the end of Beethoven’s performance. From that time on when he was invited to play somewhere he agreed only on the condition that Beethoven wasn’t there.Source: Plotki Z.
