Description: Antique Nippon Era Hand Painted Irises Pedestal Cup And Saucer. Nippon era pedestal cup and saucer. On a lush gold gilt ground hand painted Irises in shades of pink and purple with shaded green leaves. Gilt beads decorate the rims, flowers and leaves. This decoration is found on the saucer and inside of the cup. The outside of the cup features pink irises and pale green leaves. The outside rim of the cup and foot of the cup also have gilt decoration. Marked on the reverse of the saucer only with a reddish cartouche outlined in gold with gold painted Japanese characters. Most likely produced from 1911-1921. Displays beautifully. All measurements are approximate: Cup measures 3 1/2" in diameter x 2 3/4" tall.Saucer measures 5 5/8" in diameter. Good antique condition to commensurate with age and use. There is a tight crack on the outside of the cup. A few spots of gilt paint loss on the inside of the cup, and some gilt decoration loss on the outside rim of the cup, handle and foot, and the saucer rim.
