Description: This is an old antique Japanese bowl plate made of carved cryptomeria wood and lacquered in red and black. It is in the round shape of a large red snapper. The carving is skillfully hand carved followed by several coats of red then black lacquer to highlight the carved areas. It is in excellent condition and was purchased from a NC estate.
