Description: This exquisite set of antique formal wear accoutrements, including buttons and pins, is a true gem from the Art Deco era. The pieces are made of copper or bronze with enamel and glass materials, and feature a beautiful blue round main stone with a halo setting. The set is nickel-free and handmade, with five units in total. The buttons and pins are maker marked and have British Hallmarks, adding to their authenticity and value. There are three British hallmarks, but I am only able to determine two of them. One is a side profile of a lion and the other is a M in an older script -not the script we use today! They are perfect for various occasions such as Mother's Day, Engagement, Wedding, Graduation, Christmas, Anniversary, Father's Day, Birthday, Christening, Confirmation/Communion, and Valentine's Day. This original set is a must-have for antique jewelry collectors and history enthusiasts alike. Each of these .5” diameter items have a lustrous round Center surrounded by what appears to be an enamel floral arrangement of roses in a brilliant sky blue, which again is surrounded by the same type of material in appearance as the center, which, in my opinion, looks like the illustrious insides of an abalone shell. I’m relatively certain, however, that this is not what this item is composed of, but it just gives that appearance. This, of course, is an incomplete set; but, they are so attractive that I believe one could make an exceptional jewelry item out of the combination-just my opinion. What appears to be missing is one of the copper/bronze back cuff hole stabilizers, another pin type as the one shown in the photograph and a what appears to have been an oval pen (top center) judging by the impression remaining in the box. Also, two items seem to be missing, which, again, judging by the impression remaining in the box, fit into the two horizontal looking “colon” holes. I have no idea what they may have been-possibly cufflinks! This, however, is just my guess. I find these exceedingly attractive and regret that the entire set is not here. It would have been quite lovely. I’m sure. The box itself has that old character and appearance, and is very reminiscent of boxes containing antique jewelry that I’ve seen over the years.
