Description: Monkeys were rather popular pets throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Curious, amusing, and endlessly troublesome, it is no wonder that these creatures made it into the popular motifs in Victorian-era jewels. This curious critter, with his coat and cap, climbs easily up and down with a weighted cable chain pull. The pin finishes with an era-appropriate c-clasp. Circa 1870. Measurements: The piece is 3.11"/79mm with the monkey sitting at the base. The monkey is 1.18"/30mm by 0.63"/16.2mm. Condition: Wear to the metal and paint can be seen. The monkey slides easily along his pole but will not remain sitting at the top for any extended length of time. Please remember that this piece is over 150 years old. Used/Vintage. Always expect some wear on Vintage and Antique pieces, in keeping with their age. We will note any specific damage or wear on each item.
