Description: For sale is a creamware chestnut basket and underplate / stand made by Spode in the pattern number 1637. This pattern was introduced at Spode around 1811. The basket is superbly modeled with reticulated sides and a handle to each side, is hand painted with a really nice floral design all around the inside rim and has a bit of brown trim. The under plate is painted in the same way. It is nice to find them still together and both are in superb condition with just a minor touch of age related wear in the form of white spots in the brown trim. The set displays perfectly! The basket is 2.625 inches tall, 8.875 inches wide and 5.375 inches deep. The under plate is 0.625 inches tall, 9.125 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep. Both pieces are marked with the pattern number and the stand also has a red A under it as shown.
