Description: Very rare 1920’s scrapbook that features the Boston Post’s famous cat, Hindy, on the cover. The Boston Post began this series with its own office cat, Von Hindenburg. Nicknamed “Hindy,” the feisty cat was a regular feature in the Post’s pages between 1918 and 1923. The first page of the scrapbook features a picture of President Hoover on the occasion of his 57th birthday, and this was probably a newspaper clipping. There are also Arm and Hammer cards of bird species and another photograph of Calvin Coolidge. The scrapbook keeps going to reveal additional pictures of Theodore Roosevelt, 1920s newspaper clippings, African-American artwork, Christmas card, cutouts featuring children, maps, and so many other clippings. Further along, we find additional clippings and cut outs that include cut outs of poems like old mother Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Spratt, and little Jack Horner. The back cover features a seascape entitled Welcome Home. This is a fascinating look into life during the 1920s and captures all the events in the spirit of the era perfectly well. The scrapbook has a taped leather spine and is hard cover. There is condition to the scrapbook, although the insides are very good. The covers have some wear and tear as pictured. The name of the owner is written on the top of the front cover. There is a little bit of tape on the spine, but overall everything has been preserved quite well. Measures 10.5 X 8 inches.
