After the arches were built, the architect decided to erect an outside stairway, which covered them up. Here, the blocks in the arches have been carefully numbered so that they can be put together again elsewhere as a historical monument. The hidden arches came to light during work to extend the East Front 32 1/2 feet. Photo measures 9 x 7 inches. Photo Is dated 1959.
