Description: Vintage 1940s WWII photo I just removed from a US Navy Seabee's Photo Album which was the usually mix of unit photos, snapshots he took and action photos he bought. This listing is an official 99th CB Seabee unit taken photo. Photos in album start out at Camp Rousseau, Port Hueneme, CA. On Aug 23. 1943 the 99th Naval Construction Battalion was adopted by the Governor of Texas and then known as the 99th Lone Star Battalion. The Fighting Seabees was being filming training scenes at Camp Rousseau. The star of the movie Susan Hayward was adopted as the Battalion Sister and hooray citizen of Texas. Nov 5th the 99th headed to San Francisco for the USS West Point for Hawaii. Staying at Waiawa Gulch Hawaii first, some left for Kauai, Big Island, Johnston Island, Phoenix Island etc. May of 1944 they left the Waiawa Gulch to Aiea, Hawaii. In April 1945 the 99th arrived in the Philippines till wars end. SEE Size in condition box above..
