Description: This large antique original anatomical chart was issued by A.J. Nystrom & Co. Publishers of Chicago and has a 1918 copyright so thus the date. This chart is Plate No. 4 featuring views of the Human heart and skin. The top of the chart is titled AMERICAN FROHSE ANATOMICAL CHARTS- EDITED, REVISED AND AUGMENTED BY MAX BRODLE. Max Brödel was a German medical illustrator widely considered to be the “Father of Modern Medical Illustration” whose daughter Elizabeth Brödel also became a preeminent medical illustrator in the United States. This chart measures about 72” tall by about 42” wide and still has the original wooden dowel attached to the top edge. The dowel on the bottom edge is detached and included and could possibly be reattached. This chart is paper backed on the original fabric backing. The chart shows moderate handling wear and has some small areas of chipping, nicks, scrapes and general wear to the paper along with some toning from age and dust staining. A narrow band of darkening or toning from age shows across the bottom of the chart. Please see the photos and email any questions. Thanks for looking.
