Description: For sale today is a very rare note. It is an 1899 $1 Black Eagle silver certificate Fr 229a with Vernon-McClung signatures and date moved to the right side. This is the series key to all of the Black Eagles. Almost the whole run of Vernon-McClung notes were the earlier date under the serial number variety. At the very end of production they decided to move the date, and promptly changed the signatures to Napier-McClung. Very few were printed of this type with the Vernon-McClung signatures. This note grades a Choice Fine in my opinion. Still has nice paper and bold colors. Please check scans and judge grade for yourself. Lists for $400 in Fine in Friedberg.
