This work looks a the flora and plants that can be found growing in Hertfordshire. The work discussed the botany, looking at each plant discussed in detail, noting where the plants can be found, where there native land is, how rare they are, their preferred terrain, and more. With a coloured folding map, and two plates of maps. Written by Alfred Reginald Pryor. Pryor grew an interest in botany early in his life. His life-long project was this work, a flora of his native country, and it was published after his death. Edited by Benjamin Daydon Jackson. Jackson was a pioneering botanist. With an introduction by John Hopkinson. Prior owner's ink inscription the half-title, 'William J Cox Waltord 16/8/22'. CONDITION In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Small tear to the head of the spine. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges are a little strained but remain firm. Some spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some scattered spots, mostly to the first and last few pages. Prior owner's ink inscription the half-title, 'William J Cox Waltord 16/8/22'.
