Description: Source: The Knoxville Journal -- Tuesday, June 21, 1892 Hon. Wm Galbraith died yesterday morning at his residence, Mill Springs, in Jefferson county. He was born on the 24th day of January, 1815, in Hawkins County, Tennessee and on the 18th day of October, 1838, was married to Eliza Cobb, with whom he lived happily until about one year ago, when she died. More than fifty years ago he removed to Jefferson County which has been his home ever since with the exception of one or two brief intervals. He represented his county one term in the lower house of the Tennessee legislature, serving with Gen. W. B. Bate, who is now in the United States Senate. When the East Tennessee and Virginia road was put into operation, Mr. Galbraith was appointed depot agent at New Market, in which position he served with fidelity and efficiency until in 1862, when he was arrested and confined for several months in southern prisons, on account of being an active and aggressive union man. After his release from prison he was engaged for some time and to the close of the war, in the mercantile business. In 1865 he removed to Dandridge, where he was appointed clerk and master of the chancery court by the late Chancellor Seth J. W. Lucky. He held this position for a full term of six years. He had ten children, all of whom are living except one. He was universally respected and esteemed. He was a member of the Methodist Church for more than fifty years and always lived the life of a consistent Christian. Funeral exercises will be held at the late residence of the deceased at 4 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. C. Warner, D. D., pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, in this city. --- - SEE PHOTOS !!! NO RESERVE, SHIPPING AND HANDLING IS $2.00 IN USA, OR $4.00 FOREIGN.
