Description: This is an interesting and rare item. This is an original 1813 Iron Cross, 2nd class, with the original ribbon. Experts say this pattern was made between 1815 - 1820. Three piece construction, with iron center. Still retains the original loop and a section of the period ribbon. Ribbon is quite worn but original. Medal itself looks good. Though one arm of the Iron center has cracked. We were told this is a common situation on these earliest made crosses. Of course, any Iron Cross collection must have at least one of these first pattern. This one is much less then normally offered. On the rare occasions when offered.
