Engraved New Testament title page and 63 engraved plates (including frontispiece). A good, solid and clean copy in the main. Dampstain to lower, inner corner of frontispiece, title and 1st plate in volume 1. Some light toning, occasional spotting or offsetting. Volume 1 with late 18th-early 20th.C. genealogical entries for the Townsend family to the verso of front free endpaper, blank and verso of frontispiece. With the misprint to Mark vii. 27. reading ‘Let the children first be killed’ instead of ‘filled’. [See highlighted image]. The engravings are after pictures by Durer, Rembrandt, Rubens etc. Bound in contemporary red grained morocco bindings. Gilt décor to the boards and spine.
