Description: Here we have a very unique, fun, 14 karat white gold three-piece ladies wedding set featuring a round brilliant cut natural diamond. This set is "New, Old Stock" (NOS). When our jewelry store was in business, we purchased the remaining stock, tools, equipment, etc. of at least a half dozen fine jewelry stores that had gone out of business. This set is a "gem" from one of those stores. It is so cool and unusual that we just had to save it by setting a nice diamond in it rather than just scrapping it and moving on! The set features a center solitaire engagement ring with four integrated prongs, and two matching bands; one for each side of the engagement ring. It is perfect for someone who's brain is drawn to symmetry, and the design of the ring is very protective of the diamond. We estimate that the set was manufactured in the late 1960s or early 1970s, and it almost certainly was manufactured in the USA. The diamond is a round brilliant shape stone measuring 4.4 mm in diameter, with depth of approximately 2.5 mm, and with an actual weight of 0.32 carat. The diamond is the kind of nicer quality stone that would likely have been used at the time the set was manufactured. The color of the diamond is graded at G (with medium blue fluorescence), and we grade the clarity at VS-1. This is flaws only seen with some difficulty at 10x magnification, and not visible at all to the naked eye. The cut is a little "spready", but overall, it is good. A spready cut makes the diamond look a little larger while still maintaining very good brilliance (and it's typical of diamonds from circa 1970). This diamond is 100% genuine, natural, earth mined, untreated, and unenhanced. Natural diamonds have a centuries long history of appreciating in value, whereas lab grown diamonds have an undeniable history of being available for less and less money every year. The set is trademarked "PJ"; but we don't know who this manufacturer was. The engagement ring is approximately 1.5 mm wide, and each band ranges from about 2.5 to 1.5 mm wide. Together, the set is approximately 7.2 mm wide at the top when worn together. The set weighs 5.5 grams. The engagement ring is size 6.5 and each band is size 6; but all are easily sizable by any competent jeweler. This set was priced at $1,995 in our brick and mortar fine jewelry store that closed in 2020.
